## What is the Flyin' Miata Summer Camp?

Flyin' Miata hosts an annual Summer Camp event that focuses on driving, talking about, showing off, and otherwise enjoying Miatas with many other Miata enthusiasts from around the country (and oftentimes friends from other countries, too!). It's been taking place for over 25 years and currently happens in mid-June.

 If you've wanted to make a trip to the Grand Valley, nestled between the western slope of the Colorado Rockies and the vast, red rocks that comprise [Moab (UT)](https://www.discovermoab.com/) and [Arches National Park](https://www.nps.gov/arch/), this is as good an opportunity as any to hang out with like-minded Miata enthusiasts and enjoy the beautiful scenery and local attractions that the [Western Slope of Colorado](https://www.colorado.com/cities-and-towns/grand-junction) has to offer.

Key features of a typical FM Summer Camp:

* Organized track time at a local venue
* A car show featuring Miatas of all kinds (stock, modified, new, old, kit cars, etc.)
* Technical presentations hosted by FM employees
* Catered lunch and dinner during the Saturday Open House at [Flyin' Miata HQ](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Flyin'+Miata/@39.0767286,-108.4065418,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x874721f4d6f334a5:0x7da0c848f7024fa6!8m2!3d39.0767245!4d-108.4043531!16s%2Fg%2F1w96h6dl)
* Awards/prizes for track and car show winners
* Drives through some of Western Colorado's iconic, twisty roads.
*   And many more!

## Where should I stay while I'm visiting the Grand Valley?

Fortunately, there are many options for good places to stay here in the area and not that many bad options!

A great option for both first-timers and veterans of Flyin' Miata Summer Camp is to stay at one of the several downtown Grand Junction hotels.  The downtown area will give you easy access to many of the stores, restaurants, and other in-town attractions you might want to visit while you're here:  [https://www.visitgrandjunction.com/downtown-grand-junction-hotels-and-lodging](https://www.visitgrandjunction.com/downtown-grand-junction-hotels-and-lodging)

If you're looking for a more unique experience of the Grand Valley, there are many interesting [Airbnb listings](https://www.airbnb.com/s/Grand-Junction--Colorado--United-States/homes?tab_id=home_tab&refinement_paths%5B%5D=%2Fhomes&flexible_trip_lengths%5B%5D=one_week&price_filter_input_type=0&price_filter_num_nights=5&channel=EXPLORE&query=Grand%20Junction%2C%20CO&place_id=ChIJV3DnIuPWRocRVny_zlH0Y8w&date_picker_type=calendar&source=structured_search_input_header&search_type=user_map_move&ne_lat=39.29862572651115&ne_lng=-108.28834639332229&sw_lat=38.89629723093939&sw_lng=-108.76556502125197&zoom=11&zoom_level=11&search_by_map=true), [VRBO properties](https://www.vrbo.com/search/keywords:grand-junction-colorado-united-states-of-america?petIncluded=false), and other local bed and breakfast businesses (such as [The Wine Country Inn](https://coloradowinecountryinn.com/) in Palisade and the [Two Rivers Winery & Chateau](https://tworiverswinery.com/chateau.cfm) in Grand Junction) that can really add some flavor to your visit.  Many of these options feature easy access to local amenities, such as biking/hiking trails, winery tours, restaurant access, and more.

For you hardy and outdoorsy types, there are several campsites within 30 minutes of our location (and even more within an hour) that you can plan to spend your time roughing it when you're not discussing Miatas at length!  Check out this website for specific recommendations and listings for the nearby area:  [https://www.visitgrandjunction.com/campsites-near-grand-junction](https://www.visitgrandjunction.com/campsites-near-grand-junction).  If you're a KOA member or prefer KOA campgrounds, there are also a few options closeby to the FM facility:  [https://koa.com/campgrounds/grand-junction/](https://koa.com/campgrounds/grand-junction/).  Another great option is the Palisade Base Camp ([https://palisadebasecamp.com/](https://palisadebasecamp.com/)), which is only about 15 minutes from Flyin' Miata!

And for you really hard-core folks, we have some minimal camping facilities at our shop. They're not suitable for big RVs or trailers, but small trailers and tents work fine. There are no hookups. You're welcome to use our bathrooms (one even has a shower!) while the building is unlocked if you would like to call our parking lot home for a few nights. Of course, please respect our property and our neighbors - no raucous parties after hours!
