# Will 15” wheels fit my ND?

If you're looking for the most extreme weight loss for unsprung rotating mass and an increase in gearing ratio without resorting to swapping your differential or transmission, running 15" wheels and 23" (ish) diameter tires can be an effective way to achieve both of these goals for your ND Miata.

  

With so many possible wheel and brake combinations, we can only directly answer this question about stock parts and the parts we sell: [Our 15x7/8/9 Kogeki wheels](https://flyinmiata.com/search?q=16-530&options%5Bprefix%5D=last) and [our brake upgrade kits for the ND chassis](https://flyinmiata.com/collections/nd-brakes-brake-packages).  Note that since our 15x7 and 15x8 Kogeki wheels have the same offset, they have the same fitment and are grouped together.

  

Another thing to note is that the ND typically prefers wheels with higher offsets than NA and NB Miatas like to use.  For a simple comparison, our 17x8 Kogeki wheel for the ND features a 45mm offset and our 15x8 Kogeki wheel for the NA/NB features a 36mm offset.  If you're running a smaller diameter tire than the stock 25"(ish) tire for the ND, you can get away with a more aggressive offset, but bear in mind that this may affect fender and control arm clearance if you go with a 15" wheel that has a really low - or even negative - offset compared to an ND wheel of the same width.

  

We recommend having at least 3mm of clearance between your brake components and the inside of the wheel.  Remember that you need to check clearance from the backside of the spokes _and_ clearance to the barrel of the wheel.  Spoke design has a lot to do with big brake kit fitment, but don't forget that most wheels have a step in the barrel diameter just behind the spokes, which can make it tricky to fit larger brake kits, too.

### Brake fitment with 15x7 Kogeki and 15x8 Kogeki wheels:

  

*   Non-Brembo stock brakes – Fits front ONLY.  Hard contact with the rear\*.
*   Brembo stock brakes – Less than 3mm clearance to both the back of the spokes and barrel (not recommended).  Hard contact with the rear\*.

    *   It can fit the rear with modification of the parking brake cable retention clip.  Modify at your own risk (not covered by warranty).

\*If you are willing to experiment with very thick wheel spacers (likely 10mm-15mm or larger), you may be able to have just enough clearance for the brakes.  Of course, you'll either need [extended wheel studs](https://flyinmiata.com/search?q=wheel+stud&options%5Bprefix%5D=last) and/or wheel spacers that have secondary studs pressed into them.  We cannot make any guarantees for fitment, so use your best judgment and the templates provided below if you're willing to experiment in an attempt to make these fit your car.
